The Mindscape Gallery Presents:
The Mindscape Series
The Mindscape Series is a collection of doodles three decades in the making by renderer Edgardo Rivera. Rivera is a Bronx Fort Apache native. He was born in Harlem New York City with Puerto Rican ancestry, aka Newyorican. This incredibly unique collection of doodles includes thirty-eight doodles aggregated from notebooks covers, napkins, loose-leaf lined paper, yellow pad paper, food containers, and printer paper.
The uniqueness of this collection can be said to be in the current that appears to conduct through each work. There appears to be an emphasis on pyramids, planets, ladders, puddles, eyes, windows, and reflections. Rivera largely abandoned traditional art principles. He does not have a strong conclusion as to motivations and inspirations for his works. He stated that doodling what he was seeing in what he calls his mindscape as quickly as he could, trumped art formalities. This is why the works appear on an assortment of everyday paper objects.
He hopes viewers will be instrumental in helping define whatever there is to define within the individual or set of works. This is art at its best. Unrehearsed, unprovoked, each work encapsulates a moment of time that would otherwise be lost in the infinity of the past.
Each work is time in a bottle. As time is priceless, each artifact is aptly priced and non-negotiable. Each work represents a priceless moment in time during which Rivera was involuntarily influenced to doodle. Only one original, artist signed, validation stamped work of each exists. Dedicated inquiries only.
